A matter of musical importance

My dear fellow councillors,

As Minister for Arts, I would like to advise that I will be co-hosting an interesting event coming up rather soon in the calendar, one which my beloved other half dreamt up this time last year. We call it: "Karaoke Secret Santa".

Step-by-step process:

  • The idea is that you join our Secret Santa website and fill out a "Wishlist" of music (eg. your favourite band, song, musical, Christmas carol, etc).
  • On a specified date, the Secret Santa website will automatically assign everybody a Secret Santa recipient.
  • You then go to your recipient's wishlist, check out their music wishlist, and pick a song (eg. if they said that Ben Folds was their favourite artist, you could choose any Ben Folds song you like).
  • Film yourself performing this song. You can sing it, recite it, play it on the piano, fill glasses of water and bang on them, drum it, rap it, or write a three-act play around the plot of it. The important part is that you film it (just using a regular digital camera, or webcam, is fine).
  • Upload this video to YouTube before Christmas Day (an official deadline will be assigned to allow for timezones), and then either you or I will advise the recipient of the video (haven't ironed out that kink yet).

Then, when we all wake up on Christmas morning, there'll be a crazy video of something we like on YouTube -- ESPECIALLY FOR US!!!!! An Internet present of goodwill and music.

What more could one really need for Christmas than that?

I would like to encourage ALL of the Pervy Councillors to join me in this event.

Yours Effervescently,
The Painted Duchess
Minister for Arts, Shiny Things and Something Else
